Science Platforms > Research at NCFST
The research at the NCFST is organized by scientific platforms. (Listed to the left) Research categories are described below:
- Collaborative Research - brings together key players from food companies, the U.S Food and Drug Administration, and university based food scientists to develop and explore new technologies and participate in research that will be used in FDA policy formation.
- Multiclient or leveraged Research - Pools federal and/or food industry resources to create an attractive shared -cost environment for NCFST members.
- Proprietary Research – Individual companies may contract with the NCFST/IIT technical staff for privately funded proprietary research.
- Competitive Grants - Faculty and Research staff receive grants from a variety of sources such as C-FAR, CORANET and the state of Illinois.
